  Anchorage resident Richard Carlson, 70, died Aug. 28, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center of a stroke. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., with a service at 11 a.m. with Mother Lawrence officiating. Mr. Carlson's cremated remains will be scattered at his cabin in Skwentna. Mr. Carlson was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1972, he moved to Alaska, where he worked as an Alaska Master Guide and Bush pilot. Family wrote: "Dick was a treasured friend to so many. He was the wisest father there ever was. He headed for the 'Great White North' over 30 years ago and made a wonderful life hunting and fishing, and enjoying God's beautiful Alaska. He was definitely king of his world and is now with the king of the universe." Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Stamey of Tell City, Ind., and Dawn C. Heil of Evansville, Ind.; son, Shaun Olson of Henderson, Ky.; brothers, Ed Carlson of Grand Mound, Iowa, Dave Carlson of Davenport; sister, Betty Carlson of Princeton, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial donations are suggested to the Mother Lawrence Foundation, 833 N. Hoyt St., Anchorage 99508.
