Hettie was born to Oregon trail pioneers Isaac Chauncy Quick and Frances Adeline Simmons and her siblings were Susan Clough, Dick Benjamin, Clarrisa Frances, Dewey Chauncy, Thomas S., William Harry, Isaac F., Ivan C., Addie Dove, Ladd Cuthbert, and Rose D. Quick. On September 15, 1886 she married Charles Sherman Wells and their children were Blanche, Frankie, Isaac Zura "Ike", Iva Bell "Ivy", and Pebble Ilene Wells. Hettie's great granddaughter Patty Robinson Huntley said she was a loving, talkative woman who loved to visit and was always rubber necking on the telephone. Patty said when her grandma Hettie died it seemed like the entire town was at her funeral as the church was filled because she was dearly loved by many. Her grandson Ike Wells said when Hettie was a little girl kids liked to teaser her if she went to the outhouse and would say "HesterPQuick". Hettie was loved dearly by her family.
