  Shared by FindAGrave contributor, Mary McKillup "Rolla New Era" 7 Dec 1895 Death of a Worthy Preacher Again the cold chariot of death has visited our home this time taking from us our dear father. Father is dead. John Glover was born near Cumberland in the State of Maryland on the 9th day of March 1831 where his youthful days were spent. After which his father moved to Bolivar, Westmoreland County, Penn where he lived until he married his loving companion Rosa M Harmon on the 6th day of February 1850 after which they lived together on life's rugged pathway until the 4th day of December 1893 when his dear companion was taken from him. After this he spent almost two lonely years in trying to do good. He was the father of eleven children, five of whom are dead and six are living to mourn the loss of a dear father. Shortly after he was married he became a Christian traveling sixty miles to obey the requirements of the gospel; submitted to the ordinance of baptism at 11 o'clock the same night and ever since has been a faithful followers of Christ and a preacher of the gospel for almost forty years being instrumental in bringing many hundreds to Christ. He was also a physician, the neighbors always receiving his sympathy and his greatest efforts to restore them to health. Father died at his home near Arlington, Phelps county, Missouri on the 30th day of November 1895 at 10 o'clock am. He was 64 years 8 months and 21 days old. For ten long days he suffer. All was done that human skill could do to relieve him and ward off death but to no avail. He was loved by all who knew him. As a father he loved as only a loving father can--always trying to comfort us. But this is all past— only to be remembered as fond recollections of a dear father. The remains were conveyed to the resident of W.P. Hawkins where conducted by Elder Moneymaker of Miller County assisted in song service by Frank Paulsell of Little Beaver after with he was laid to rest by the side of our dear mother in the Hawkins family burying ground. There we said farewell dear father until we meet in heaven. A loving one from us is taken A voice we loved is stilled A place is vacant in our home Which never can be filled.
