Noteringar - The Russian Connection
is a statement that Klara Lisa Lindberg spent some time in Russia. This is based on a photo with a handwritten text saying "faster Lindberg". At the bottom of the photo is a text in Russian: "?OTO?PA??? H. A?PA?AMCOHA". That translates to "Photograph by N. Abrahamson". The problem is that Klara Lisa never visited Russia. I have followed her from her birth to her marriage with Augustinus Holmström and there are no records showing that she traveled further than 66 miles from her place of birth. Since there is no date connected with the photo, it is difficult to say where it was taken. If the photo really portraits Klara Lisa, it may have been a traveling photographer or it could have been shot when she visited the town of Jönköping at the age of 21. There is another problem. Klara died 1869 just a few years after the concept of Cabinet cards was introduced, see the following text. The photographer may have been an early adopter.
Update:
Klara Lisa had an older brother, Johan Peter, who moved to Poorvoo (Borgå) in Finland and later to Saint Petersburg in Russia. It is quite plausible that Klara Lisa and Augustinus visited him in Finland. Since Finland belonged to Russia at that time, it is also probable that they had pictures taken by a russian photographer.
Cabinet card photos
These photos were popular from about 1870 to 1895 and are very rare after 1906. There are different opinions on who invented them. Most sources claim that they were first produced in 1863 by Windsor & Bridge in London. Other sources mention George Wharton Simpson and George Washington Wilson in 1862 or Frederick Window in 1866.
