Noteringar - Leah Jaburek:
I spoke with Grandpa long before he passed away, He said he studied Agriculture in Denmark for 3 1/2 years then went to Germany to work on a farm to put what he learned to practice. One day he and a friend were standing on the side of a road when it looked like a parade was coming by and this man was shaking hands with everyone on his side of the road. They stayed to watch and next thing he knew he was shaking hands with Adolph Hitler. He said he got a very bad feeling from him so he and his friend packed up that night and left Germany to come to Canada. The first job he had in Wetaskiwin was at the Grey Goose Inn (later known as the Driard Hotel) because he could speak both German and Swede. He then worked on a farm for 2 years for a Mr. Burkland. He never took any salary for the job. Mr. Burkland went broke and to pay him for the work that he did do Otto was allowed to take 6 horses, 2 wagons, and 1 plow, and he left for Buck Creek for the winter. [9]
